Assessment of the Trump Presidency After One Year
My anti-Trump friends ask: “When will you Trump sycophants realize that Trump is crazy, a narcissist, an egomaniac, a jerk, not a good person?”
I conced all this. I don’t even agree with all of his policies and actions.
But he seems to be doing mostly good things for the country:
1) Secured the border.
2) Removing violent criminals, gangs, drug cartels, human traffickers (70% of illegals removed have serious criminal records or have been charged with serious crimes. The others happened to be with the criminals when ICE arrested them).
3) Disabled Iran’s nuclear weapons development program.
4) Arrested Maduro.
5) Cut fentanyl deaths by 80% in one year of border security.
6) Inflation now 2.6% (averaged more than 5% under Biden, and got up to around 10%)
7) Gasoline prices now back to early 2021 levels and dropping.
8) GDP grew 4.3% in Q3. Atlanta Fed forecasts Q4 GDP growth at 5.9% (Reagan levels).
9) Trump’s tariffs seem to be working, or at least not as much harm as many were expecting (I was skeptical, believing Milton Friedman free-trade doctrine)
10) Freed the hostages from Hamas
11) Cutting 100 regulations for every 1 new regulation added.
12) Stopping transgender surgeries on children.
13) Will probably grab Greenland.
14) Might end the insane Iran regime.
15) Might end Communism in Cuba.
16) Might end the Ukraine war.
And he’s just been President for one year.
So let’s say Trump is “crazy, a narcissist, an egomaniac, a jerk, and not a good person.”
But for Trump to succeed, his plans for America need to work. Otherwise, he goes down in history as a failure (like Biden). Trump’s interests and America’s interests are aligned.
I do think Trump is too much of a spender. Not a fan of his $1.5 TRILLION military budget idea. Not a fan of his money giveaways ($2,000 checks from tariffs); or government takeover of corporations.
I’d like to see him crack down harder on the rioting in Minneapolis and the welfare fraud.
Maybe that’s happening. Glad to see Elon back in the tent.
So far, I see mostly good things from Trump. The country is generally headed in a positive direction.
